President-Elect

Whitney Harmel is the Executive Vice President of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce and the Executive Director of the Maryland Chamber Foundation. In this dual role, she advances and oversees membership development and engagement efforts, leads the fundraising, development, and execution of all programs for the Maryland Chamber Foundation, and establishes relationships with community partners, Chamber members, and funders to better understand their unique needs, challenges, and goals in an ever-changing 21st-century workforce.

Working at the Maryland Chamber for the last five years has given Whitney a broad understanding and passion for the positive impact Maryland’s businesses are making on local, state, and regional communities and economies. Additionally, Whitney’s work has led to the development of the Maryland Chamber Foundation’s highly successful Teacher Externship Program and National Civics Bee, which connect students, educators, businesses, and government in powerful ways.

Whitney is very active in her community, serving on the United Way of Central Maryland Board, where she also co-chairs their public policy committee.

She is a graduate of Virginia Tech where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. On the weekends, you can find Whitney spending time with friends, hiking local trails, traveling to unexplored cities, or trying something new and adventurous.
